What you are looking at, in plain words

Yigal is a home-grown brain on the eran2 machine. He listens to human voices and learns to tell syllables apart. He has 49,536 code neurons right now, plus thousands of ear and eye units.

"Real space" (the default): each dot is one neuron, at its real place in Yigal's own wiring space. That is the space where his synapses really grow: a neuron connects to near neighbours. Blue = ear, green = code neurons he wrote for himself, big white-green = neurons born after birth, red = what he expects to see. Lines are real synapses: green = born at his last growth event, red = pruned, gold = wiring he rewrote for himself.

When it moves: awake, he grows synapses, rewrites his own code and sometimes adds neurons. At rest he does not learn, but synapse pruning goes on. Every number on this page comes from his own log; next to each thing it says whether it is measured or approximated.

"Layers (diagram)": the same brain laid out in rows by role. There, position is a drawing and one dot is 8 neurons; firing in the ⚡ layers is real.

What this page does not do: it only reads small files and a copy of the checkpoint, at low priority, and pauses if the box's memory is low. It never starts, stops or writes anything in Yigal.
